What Is Botox® and How Does It Work?
Botox® is the trade name for Botulinum purified neurotoxin complex. BOTOX® Cosmetic goes right to the source of the problem, relaxing the muscles that are the cause of dynamic wrinkles. When the muscles are relaxed, the creases smooth out. This treatment is proven safe, with minimal discomfort and very quick – it can be done on your lunch hour. Our patients love the natural, fresh look it provides.

Are There Any Side Effects?

  • There can be bruising and mild pain at the site of injections
  • Eyebrow or eyelid drop (this is seen in 1 to 2% of patients). It lasts 2 to 4 weeks. A medication can be prescribed to correct this until it is gone

How Often Is It Needed?

The effect is temporary, meaning it will have to be repeated on a regular basis to remain effective. How long each treatment will last depends on the depth of the wrinkles, the size of the muscles and the amount injected. An average response of 3 to 6 months is the norm depending on the above factors. It seems that the response to Botox® becomes longer with each successive injection.

What If a Patient Stops Receiving Injections?

Gradually the pre-treatment lines will probably return with time.

Soft Tissue Fillers

Fillers can be used to create a more youthful, softer appearance by minimizing lines, wrinkles and folds, and acne scarring. In addition, many patients enjoy having their lips and cheeks enhanced, plumped or simply defines. There is a variety of temporary, semi-permanent and permanent products available which allows you and Dr. Rydzik to customize the best treatment option for you. This treatment is safe with little or no downtime – it can be done on your lunch hour. For an even better result, try combining Botox® and filler for a more youthful look.
